PARISH COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES, OCTOBER 11, 2007

IMMACULATE CONCEPTION PARISH, VAN HORNE, IOWA

 

 

1.  Meeting was called to order by:            Kathy Janss    at 6:30 PM

2.  Roll Call:

3.  Review of Minutes:  The minutes from the August 7, 2007 council meeting were approved.  

4.  Pastor’s Comments
            No comments 


5.  COMMITTEE REPORTS:

A.     Spiritual Growth and Liturgy: 
- Robb reported that Fr. Jack has not made a decision yet on the holiday Mass schedule. 
 

B.     Education/Youth Ministry
- Adam Masten distributed minutes from the Cluster Board of Education meeting.  They were reviewed by the council.   
  

C.     Finance & Administration: 
- No report

D.     Social Concerns: 
-  Amy Kaiser reported that the Back to School collection went very well.  She also reminded the council of the Crop Walk that was taking place the following weekend.  She reported that the Social Concerns Committee would be putting on a clothing drive in November and would be doing the Gift tree in December.
 

E.      Parish Community Life:
-  Cindy Stammeyer reported that $239 was donated for the miscellaneous items for the Beef and Pork Dinner but she didn’t have any of the final numbers to report.
-  Cindy also reported that the welcoming for Fr. Jack went very well.

F.      Building & Grounds: 
- Amy Kaiser reported that we were waiting on a part to fix the elevator.
- She also reported that we still need to have the windows caulked before the renovation begins.
- It was also reported that Fr. Jack would like the lights around the rectory checked.  There is concern for the faith formation students leaving at night and he wants to make sure that the exit routes are properly lit. 

6.  NEW BUSINESS:
      A.  Robb reported that October 28th was National Priesthood Sunday so the council decided to serve coffee and rolls after Mass to celebrate.          

 

     7.  OLD BUSINESS:
       A.  Micheal Douglas distributed a proposed quote for the new altar, ambo and baptismal font to the council.  He indicated that members of the renovation committee would be going to Dubuque for the final ok to proceed the 2nd week in November.

 

8.  NEXT MEETING:  Thursday, December 11, 2007 at 6:30PM at Immaculate                         
                                      Conception, Van Horne. Prayer leader will be Robb Pailthorpe
