Old Testament- Verse of the Day
New Testament- Verse of the Day

Like St. Paul in the second reading, the good steward can say, “I do all that I do for the sake of the gospel in the hope of having a share in its blessings.”

We are gathered here as Your family, Oh Lord.
As a family of faith and love, we give You thanks.
As Your guests at the table of life,
we are grateful that You have set a place for us.
As Your children, we strive to follow You in all we do.
As servants to Your will, we acknowledge the gift of
Your understanding and mercy.
As Your stewards, we are filled with wonder in the
presence of Your mighty deeds and accept our
responsibilities in Your service.
As Your heirs, we are humbled by the bounty You have
given us, for each beat of our heart and each breath
that we draw, is ours only through Your grace.
And, as Your family, we shout Your name and give You
all glory and honor, praise and thanks. Amen

AN OFFERING OR A TIP?
God comes first, not last. Otherwise, we give Him only the leftovers after we have made sure that we have provided for our own comforts.
The principle of sacrificial giving is that our giving to God comes off the top of all that He has given us. Otherwise, some would say it is not a true offering, just a tip left at the table. Pray to be enabled to give generously.
Stewardship Recipe
"You shall open your hands wide to your brother, and to your needy in the land" (Dt 15:11). In addition to faith, add brotherly kindness, love, self-control, knowledge and goodness to create a recipe for stewardship.
CHRISTIAN STEWARD
A Christian steward works as an instrument of God. In all aspects of daily life, he or she cheerfully performs the work God has planned for His people. Being a Christian is accepting the role of steward. There is no need to dwell on our responsibility, for it is clearly presented to us in Sacred Scripture--the command to take care of creation and the command to love one another. It is time to start living as a Christian steward, giving our time and our talents for God's work on earth.

A STEWARDSHIP PRAYER
for Thanksgiving
Gracious and loving God,
As the autumn season continues its transformation;
and the days become shorter,
the earth cooler;
as we join family and friends
in joy and celebration
on Thanksgiving Day,
we pause to give You thanks and praise
for the abundant blessings
You have bestowed upon us:
For life and health,
safety and comfort,
food and nourishment.
Through your Spirit, open our hearts
so that we may be even better stewards
of Your many blessings.
Show us how to be a blessing
for the poor, sick, lonely and all who suffer.
And help us nurture the gift of faith,
revealed to us by your Son, Jesus Christ,
our greatest gift,
who reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God forever and ever.
Amen.

A Prayer of Gratitude as We Celebrate

|
Thank you, Father, for having created us and given us to each other in the human family. Thank you for being with us in all our joys and sorrows, for your comfort in our sadness, your companionship in our loneliness. Thank you for yesterday, today, tomorrow and for the whole of our lives. Thank you for friends, for health and for grace. May we live this and every day conscious of all that has been given to us. From The Catholic Prayer Book, compiled by Msgr. Michael Buckley.

Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord
And let perpetual light shine upon them.
May they rest in peace. Amen.
May their souls and all the
souls of the faithful departed,
through the mercy of God
rest in peace. Amen.

Father, now the night has come,
all my work and play are done.
This has been a happy day,
now I come to you and pray.
Bless the children everywhere,
keep us in your loving care,
while we sleep and while we wake,
bless us all for Jesus' sake. Amen

No matter what you have done for yourself or for humanity, if you can’t look back on having given love and attention to your own family, what have you really accomplished?
